Our Story
The story of Intellectual Giants in Africa Foundation (INGAF) began with a simple but troubling observation.
Growing up in Nigeria, our Founder, Emmanuel Idiagi, witnessed countless bright and promising children whose dreams were cut short by poverty. Many were forced to abandon their education to engage in street hawking, domestic work, and other forms of child labour just to support themselves and their families. Others managed to complete school but lacked the foundational literacy, critical thinking, and practical skills needed to thrive in life.
These realities revealed a painful truth: millions of children and teenagers across Africa possess immense potential, yet lack access to the quality education, mentorship, and opportunities necessary to unlock it.
Determined to be part of the solution, Emmanuel Idiagi envisioned an organization that would help bridge this gap by providing vulnerable children and young people with access to basic literacy education, academic support, life skills, and hands-on vocational training. This vision gave birth to the Intellectual Giants in Africa Foundation (INGAF).
In August 2017, INGAF began its journey with just three children in a small community learning centre located in Alugu-Lungu, Abuja, Nigeria. What started as a modest effort to support a handful of disadvantaged learners quickly grew into a movement dedicated to transforming lives through education.
Recognizing the urgent need for sustainable interventions, INGAF was formally registered in January 2019 as an Incorporated Trustee under Nigerian law. Since then, the organization has remained committed to ensuring that children and teenagers from underserved communities are not denied the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed because of poverty.
Today, INGAF works to improve educational outcomes for vulnerable children and adolescents by providing:
Access to basic literacy and numeracy education;
Academic coaching and learning support;
Educational materials and school-fee assistance;
Mentorship and leadership development opportunities;
Hands-on skills training and vocational empowerment programmes that prepare young people for productive livelihoods
Our Work
Our work is driven by a simple belief:
Every child, regardless of their background, deserves the opportunity to learn, develop their talents, and build a brighter future.
What began with three children has grown into a mission to raise a new generation of educated, skilled, and empowered young Africans who can contribute meaningfully to their communities and help shape the future of the continent.
